Just Started, In Progress

Charcoal, construction paper
To explain this new drawing, I decided obviously to use sexual imagery. I wanted to use something perverse, to make a reference to the way in which women are used or abused in popular media.

I've begun the final 4 panels of which I created to use for the summer

I've decided to do one figure painting for the summer here at the end of it

Going to wait on this one to dry and venture into some much more pastel tones which should be interesting to see the outcome

The other two small ones I'm going to start soon as well I hope. Although I am toying with the idea of using ink on the surface that you see is still wood.
Once these are completed I will head into the smaller blocks you see spread on different spots of the walls, drawings will continue of course.
I have four unframed small surfaces I could use as well if need be.

Update, 2 Recent, 1 Old (better photo)

"Horizon Failure"
Oils
4x4 ft x 4 in

I decided with this recent painting that I was going to try some smaller detail, or smaller strokes if you will. Unfortunately photo hosts shrink down images naturally, so I took some close in shots in order to see detail and the color shifts that are otherwise undetectable in the photo above. This also gives a sense of paint application as well.

Detail Views:

(color is kind of off in this last detail)

New Drawing/Old Drawing (better photo):

"Men are the Perverse"

The above is large scale, pardon the drawing that is obviously hung behind it. Eventually I will get full shots of these spread out hopefully on a clean white wall.

Then the old

More straight on, also another shot of this needs to be taken in a better environment as well. These drawings are so large that there is really no good place to take photos of them. The paintings are much less fragile and therefor easier to transport to a location where I can take some good slides/photos.

Non-work

Finished two pieces that were unfinished in the last entry, pictures should come on the next opportune day.
Painting is going to have to take a bit of a rest I think... although I do have an idea for at least one. Drawings will continue though for at least one or two more or maybe untill I run out of paper which could be a while.

New/Unfinished Work and Standby's

"All Hail the Above"
48x28
Latex, Oils

"Paths"
22x18
Oils

Unfinished, just started:

New large scale drawing in the beginning of a series of explicit topics and subject matter which will make an appearance later in the drawing.

New 4x4 foot oil painting I am really excited about. I ran out linseed oil but have resupplied myself today so work should start again tommorow!

Then the 3 panels on the right wall waiting for some ideas which have yet to reach me currently. Only a matter of time though. (Note the small pieces, those are all being worked on gradually as the summer goes on when I feel it's necessary)

Non-work

I have finished up two recent paintings and the drawing seen below, should be posted soon (when I get proper weather to take slides). I've embarked on another 4x4 foot painting, a new large drawing, and have three other panels sitting to the right in my studio waiting for when I get some more ideas. Other than that one last panel sits in the back for whenever I finish the 4 in the studio.
After completing the recent paintings and drawing though I've taken a bit of a break, and have started in on the two new works slowly. (finishing 3 works at once has to be the best feeling ever) It also doesn't help that I used the last of my medium today and have little to no money to spend on a new bottle. Since recovering from sickness and injury I have been working just about every day which has been nice but I need to slow down once in a while to rest my brain. My total since summer began is around 5 paintings so far and two large scale drawings. About 2 pieces for every two weeks, which isn't bad considering I was on downtime for a little over two weeks.
Submission is coming up for the "Equanox" show and I just recently completed the third entry. So I am pretty excited to submit to another non student juried exhibition per usual.
Expect to maybe see some other mediums soon that I may be playing around with for fun, inks, construction paper, etc.

Update

"Pouring Warmth"
48x21x3
Latex, oils

"Uncomfortable"
48x48x3
Latex, oils

Unfinished:

Hands still need work, but pretty much done

For an idea of scale, see the chair, also see the magazine ads in the upper left of the wall

Personal Update:

I am sick again, so work may slow unfortunately. I'm not sure what's going on, but I think I have a new cold that isn't quite as severe as the last one yet. There is nothing worse than not being able to get into the studio because I am too drained to work. It's even harder since I was just getting over the last cold I had, and work was really moving again.
Hopefully this gets out of my system soon.
